Free on the App Store. Made in Queensland.A story call rings like a normal video call. The book opens on both screens at once, and the pages belong to both of you.

You stay on the screen the whole time. They watch you read, you watch them get sleepy, and nobody has to choose between the book and the face.
One tap turns the page in both houses at the same moment. You turn it at your end and it turns at theirs, so neither of you has to say ready and nobody loses their place.
That is the whole trick. Now imagine it at 7pm.
Swing rosters, site wifi, a donga at 7pm. Bedtime still happens, and it is still yours.
For FIFO families → Two homesWhen the kids are at the other place, the story does not have to wait for changeover day.
For two home families → GrandparentsInterstate or overseas, a grandparent with ten minutes and a book is still a grandparent at bedtime.
For grandparents → Defence and away workExercise, deployment, a posting that moved faster than the family. The ritual survives the distance.
For Defence families →Original illustrated books for ages 2 to 10, with read to me narration. Or make tonight's book about your own child, drawn new in minutes.
Isla and the Smallest Star, the app's own read to me voice.

StoryLink exists because its founder spent years doing bedtime through a phone camera held over a paperback. It is built for his own kids, which is why there are no ads, no data selling, and nothing in the app that talks to your child except the stories.

None of these four are photographs. They were drawn by StoryLink from ordinary phone photos, which is the same thing that happens when you make a book about your own family.
They need the free app on the device your child will use, and it costs them nothing. Story calls and the 300+ book library are free forever at both ends. Anything paid is only ever on the paying parent's side.
Most don't. Whoever is with them uses their own iPhone or iPad: the call comes in there, they answer it and prop the device up. Each child gets their own PIN locked space in the app on that device.
iPhone and iPad, in Australia and New Zealand. Android is planned, but there is no date for it yet, so please don't hold off on our account if your family is on Android.
It works anywhere you both have a reasonable internet connection: home wifi, mobile data, camp or hotel wifi. It is an internet video call, so there are no international call charges.
Free: unlimited live story calls, the 300+ book library and read to me narration. Paid: personalised books where your child is the main character, either one-off (A$5.99 for 8 pages, A$10.99 for 16, A$16.99 for 24) or on a monthly plan from A$4.99 that includes a book allowance. All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.
AI does, and we would rather say so plainly. Anthropic's AI writes the words, Google's Gemini paints the pictures, and a second, independent AI checks every word and picture before your child sees them.
There are no ads, and we never sell your family's data. Your books, recordings and story calls stay private to your family, children sign in with a PIN, and photos used for a book are deleted straight afterwards.
Two homes, one story, every goodnight. Story calls and the 300+ book library are free forever, at both ends.
